KIPP Atlanta Schools, through its KIPP Forward program, successfully hosted its Career Exposure Roundtable at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, bringing together accomplished professionals from across the country to inspire and equip scholars for future success.
The event welcomed more than 60 high school scholars in grades 9-12 for an immersive, in-person experience designed to expose them to a wide range of career pathways, including law, engineering, finance, entrepreneurship, real estate, consulting, and technology. Fifteen distinguished male professionals, representing leading organizations such as Google, Meta, Blackstone, Accenture, and Citizens Bank, participated as panelists, offering real-world insights, personal journeys, and actionable advice.
Through intimate roundtable discussions, scholars engaged directly with professionals, gaining a deeper understanding of career opportunities, college pathways, and the skills required to succeed in competitive industries.“This event is exactly what KIPP Forward is designed to do, create access, build connections, and expand what our scholars believe is possible,” said Irving Williams, Managing Director of KIPP Forward. “By bringing professionals from across the country into the same room with our young men, we are not only exposing them to opportunity, we are helping them see themselves in it.”
The Career Exposure Roundtable was intentionally curated to center male scholars, providing mentorship, representation, and exposure to successful professionals who reflect both diverse backgrounds and career trajectories.
“Our goal is to ensure every scholar leaves this experience with greater clarity, confidence, and motivation about their future,” said Dr. Desjane’ Venable, Director of Career Services at KIPP Atlanta Schools. “This was more than a panel, it was a powerful moment of connection, affirmation, and inspiration for our young men.”
Scholars also reflected on the impact of the experience, citing the value of hearing directly from professionals who have navigated similar paths.
“Being able to sit across from people who are doing what I aspire to do made everything feel real,” said Hilton McGill, senior at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate. “It showed me that success is possible, and that there are people willing to guide and support us along the way.”
KIPP Atlanta Schools remains committed to preparing scholars not only for college, but for long-term success in their careers and communities. Events like the Career Exposure Roundtable are a critical part of that mission, ensuring scholars are equipped with the knowledge, networks, and confidence to thrive.
