Toro Development Company (“TDC”), a real estate investment firm founded by veteran real estate developer Mark Toro, today announces six new hires with significant experience in creating vibrant community destinations.

The expanded team will be focused on pursuing new ground-up, mixed-use and multifamily development opportunities across the country as well as supporting the current pipeline, which includes Medley, the 43-acre mixed-use community in Johns Creek, and Overlook, a 301-unit multifamily community within Cumming City Center. The new appointments include:
  • Allen Holloway, Partner, Chief Investment Officer, will lead capital formation, investment strategy and financial oversight for the firm’s development portfolio, including the capitalization of mixed-use projects, structuring debt and equity, and managing investor and lender relationships. Prior to TDC, Holloway served as senior vice president for BCDC.
  • Gray Messier, Partner, Multifamily Development, will lead the sourcing, development and execution of multifamily opportunities across high-growth Sunbelt markets, overseeing site selection, planning, entitlements, acquisitions, financing and delivery, with a focus on creating thoughtfully designed residential communities. Prior to TDC, Messier served as vice president of development for Prestwick Companies.
  • Paul Bodine, Vice President of Community, will serve as the general manager of Medley when it opens this October, oversee community operations across the firm’s portfolio and work closely with TDC’s leasing and development teams to ensure seamless integration between operations, tenant mix and long-term asset performance. Bodine has more than a decade of experience as the general manager of Avalon, the $1 billion mixed-use community in Alpharetta developed by the TDC team.
“I’ve spent my career focused on creating and operating environments where people want to gather and spend their time,” said Bodine. “Having previously worked with TDC leaders at Avalon, I am excited to rejoin the team and create exceptional guest experiences unique to Medley. TDC’s relentless focus on building community, resort-level hospitality and activating the public realm is what sets its projects apart and I look forward to bringing this vision to life.”
  • Sheri Ross, Retail Leasing Consultant, will support leasing strategy and deal execution, drawing on prior experience working on premier mixed-use projects such as Avalon and Colony Square. Prior to joining TDC, Ross served as vice president of retail leasing at Jamestown and vice president of lease administration at North American Properties - Atlanta, where she worked with many of TDC’s leaders.
  • Thomas Wasson, Senior Accountant, will support accounting and financial reporting for TDC’s development portfolio, bringing more than seven years of real estate accounting experience. Prior to joining TDC, he served as senior property accountant at Portman.
  • Mabry Lyden, Marketing Assistant, will support all aspects of marketing, from tenant coordination to branding support and community programming.

“With Medley's Grand Opening on the horizon and an active development pipeline underway, we are building an even deeper bench of mixed-use experts that specialize in creating exceptional community experiences," said Toro, chief vision officer for TDC. “Our team is the best in the business, and this new group of talent will play an important role in deploying our ‘secret sauce’ to new, ground-up development opportunities across the country.”

Opening on October 29, Medley will become the Third Place for Johns Creek. Located at the intersection of Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road, Medley features 164,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space; 833 luxury residences, featuring a mix of townhomes and apartments; a 150-key boutique hotel; 110,000 square feet of lifestyle office space; and a 25,000-square-foot Plaza. TDC will infuse its signature approach to resort-style hospitality at Medley, hosting up to 200 events per year ranging from outdoor wellness classes and live music to art festivals and community gatherings.

TDC also recently broke ground on Overlook at Cumming City Center. The new multifamily community will be integrated within the existing mixed-use district and feature thoughtfully designed multifamily residences and lifestyle-driven amenities, including a resort-style pool, fitness center, social courtyards, sky lounge, micro-offices and a dog park. First units are expected to deliver in 2027.
