Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) expects to welcome about 2.7 million passengers during the upcoming Memorial Day travel period, with preparations underway to ensure a smooth travel experience for all.

This year’s eight-day Memorial Day period runs from Wednesday, May 20 through Wednesday, May 27. The busiest day is projected to be Friday, May 22, when nearly 379,000 passengers are expected to pass through ATL.

“Memorial Day marks the start of one of our busiest travel seasons, and our focus at Hartsfield-Jackson is making sure passengers move through the Airport as safely and efficiently as possible,” said Airport General Manager Ricky Smith.

“We are prepared for the increased volume, and we are working to make sure travelers have the information they need before they arrive at ATL, from timing expectations to real-time travel updates, to help support a smoother travel experience.”

Remember, all travelers 18 years of age or older must have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or an acceptable alternative form of identification to avoid delays while traveling.

Additionally,  ATL officials recommend the following tips for a smoother experience:

Prepare with purpose: Check flight status and potential travel advisories before heading to the Airport. Arrive early: Travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights.

Pack precisely: Follow TSA guidelines to expedite the screening process. Avoid bringing prohibited items. Visit the “What Can I Bring?” section on TSA.gov for details.

Intake information: Real-time updates on parking, security wait times, and concessions are available on ATL’s website (atl.com) and social media channels.

Green-coated guest service representatives will be stationed throughout the Airport to assist passengers and answer questions, helping to ensure a stress-free travel experience.
