Atlanta’s Coworking Footprint Nears 5.8M sq. ft. in Q1, with Inventory Jumping 6% to 298 Locations

Atlanta’s coworking market kicked off 2026 with one of the fastest growth rates among major U.S. markets, driven by a surge in new locations and expanding footprint.
According to CoworkingCafe’s Q1 2026 U.S. Coworking Industry Report, Atlanta reached 298 coworking locations, ranking as the sixth-largest market nationwide by inventory.
Here’s a closer look at Atlanta’s coworking market in Q1 2026:
- Inventory growth accelerates: Atlanta’s coworking market expanded to 298 locations in Q1, up 6% quarter-over-quarter — one of the fastest growth rates among major U.S. markets — solidifying its position in the national top 10.
- Footprint expands significantly: Total coworking space reached 5.74 million sq. ft., up 5% Q-o-Q, ranking as the seventh-largest coworking footprint nationwide.
- Spaces remain larger than average: The average coworking location spans 19,253 sq. ft., down slightly (–0.8% Q-o-Q) but still above the national average and among the larger formats in the U.S.
- Coworking penetration exceeds national average: Flexible office space accounts for 2.7% of Atlanta’s total office inventory — nearly 210 million sq. ft.—well above the 2.3% national benchmark and in line with markets like Chicago and San Diego.
- Top operators: Regus leads the Atlanta market with 29 locations, followed by Switchyards (13) and HQ (11).
- Median coworking prices remain competitive:
- Monthly memberships have a median price of $199, unchanged Q-o-Q and generally more affordable than many major markets
- Day passes go for $40, up $1 Q-o-Q and among the most expensive nationwide, well above the $33 national median.
- Meeting rooms hold at $50/hour, above the $45 national median.
- Virtual offices are now $129/month, unchanged from last quarter and below the $169 national median.
- The U.S. coworking footprint grew 3% Q-o-Q to 163.94 million sq. ft., led by Manhattan (12.76M sq. ft.), Chicago (9.13M sq. ft.) and Los Angeles (7.74 sq. ft.).
- The number of coworking locations also grew 3% Q-o-Q to 9,136 in Q1, with Los Angeles (351 locations), Dallas-Fort Worth (337) and Chicago (336) taking the lead.
- The national average space size edged down 0.3% Q-o-Q to 17,945 sq. ft.
- Coworking’s share of total U.S. office space reached 2.3%.
- Regus remains the largest operator in the U.S. with 1,237 locations, followed by HQ (370), Industrious (184), Spaces (173) and WeWork (149).
