As Georgia’s Gas Tax Pause Ends, Here’s What Motorists Can Expect to Pay

Prices at the pump in metro Atlanta and across Georgia have soared since the start of the war with Iran at the end of February.

With the summer driving season in full swing, gas prices remain a bitter pill for many motorists. On March 20, Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law a 60-day suspension of the state’s gas tax. He extended that gas tax holiday through June 3.

The United States is a top producer of oil and has reduced its dependence on Middle Eastern oil over the years. Still, the Persian Gulf region is a major producer for the globe, and the geopolitical turmoil has sent crude prices soaring.
