Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) received some of the aviation industry’s highest honors during the 41st Annual Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Airport Business Conference, earning recognition for its leadership in advancing economic opportunity, workforce development, business diversity and innovation throughout the aviation sector.

Held June 10-14 in National Harbor, Maryland, the conference brought together more than 1,500 airport executives, aviation professionals, businesses and government leaders from across the nation to explore emerging trends, strategic partnerships and opportunities shaping the future of aviation.

ATL was named Airport of the Year, one of the conference’s most prestigious honors, recognizing the Airport’s commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth, supporting diverse business participation, and creating distinct pathways to opportunity.

The Airport also earned the Runway to Success Award for its leadership in workforce development, supplier diversity and community engagement initiatives that is helping shape the next generation of aviation professionals.

“These recognitions reflect the dedication, innovation and leadership of our entire airport team,” said Ricky Smith, general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. “At ATL, we believe our success is measured not only by the passengers we serve, but by the opportunities we create for businesses, employees and communities. We are honored to be recognized by AMAC and remain committed to ensuring aviation continues to be a gateway to economic opportunity for all.”

In addition to the airport-wide honors, Walter Vinson, Assistant General Manager of Government Affairs, received AMAC’s Advocate of the Year Award for his longstanding commitment to advancing policies and partnerships that expand opportunities throughout the aviation industry.

Several ATL leaders were also recognized with Recognition of Service Awards from AMAC Atlanta, including:

• Ricky Smith, General Manager
• Tyronia Smith, Chief Commercial Revenue Officer
• Karen Ellis, Assistant General Manager, Customer Experience
• Leticia Caviness, Director, Airport Business Engagement

ATL’s influence was also reflected throughout the conference program, where several Airport leaders were invited to participate as panelists and subject matter experts on topics ranging from sustainability and workforce development to customer experience, business engagement and growth strategies.

The Airport Minority Advisory Council is the nation’s only nonprofit trade association dedicated to advancing the full participation of minorities and women in employment and contracting opportunities throughout the aviation and aerospace industries.

The momentum continues next year when AMAC brings its Airport Business Conference to Atlanta, with ATL serving as the host airport.
