Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, June 16th, 2026

Fulton County is officially accepting applications for its upcoming 2026 Citizens' University Class. This interactive, multi-week educational course is designed to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at how their local county government functions, how tax dollars are allocated, and how services are delivered to the community.

The program will run from August 6 to November 12, meeting every Thursday from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the FulCo Lab located on the third floor of the Government at 141 Pryor Street near downtown Atlanta.

Registration, which is now underway for the 12-week course, ends on Friday, July 31, 2026.

“Our Citizens' University bridges the gap between residents and local government,” said Directo of the Department of External Affairs Jessica Corbitt. “Participants will have the unique opportunity to step into our facilities, speak directly with department leaders, and see how our daily operations impact their quality of life”.

A registration fee of $45 includes the cost of the course materials, a graduation ceremony, a diploma, and a class shirt. Throughout the intensive training course, students will receive an in-depth look at county government.

In addition to getting an exclusive look behind the scenes of county operations, participants will also visit Fulton County facilities including the Big Creek Reclamation Water Plant. Students will also learn how tax dollars are spent, meet with officials from Fulton County departments, and participate in interactive exercises.

The size of the class is limited to 30 citizens. Youth applicants may also apply, but they must be enrolled in high school and complete six classes to graduate from the FCCU program. Fees will be waived for students who have a parent registered in the class. To learn more or to register, visit www.fultoncountyga.gov
