AT&T* added a new cell site to expand 5G coverage and capacity across Young Harris, helping residents, businesses and public safety on FirstNet® get more from their mobile devices.
A new site in Young Harris boosts coverage along Route 76, between Blairsville, Hiawassee and the North Carolina border.
“AT&T’s investment in this new cell site is an investment in the future of Young Harris. Reliable wireless service is essential for our residents, local businesses, first responders and visitors, and this enhanced coverage will help people stay connected where they live, work, learn and travel,” said Mayor Andrea Gibby, City of Young Harris. “We appreciate AT&T’s continued investment in Young Harris and commitment to connecting our community.”
AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and highly secure connectivity to more than 320 million people in over 27,700 cities and towns nationwide, including Young Harris. This helps Georgia residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.
These enhancements also support first responders and the extended public safety community on FirstNet, Built with AT&T – America’s public safety network – by bringing Band 14 spectrum to the area. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane, delivering dedicated connectivity when needed. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.
Created by the U.S. Congress after 9/11 and built by AT&T in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority, FirstNet is the only nationwide communications platform purpose-built for public safety.
“At AT&T, we know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. We are proud to invest in Young Harris with the wireless infrastructure necessary to connect in today’s digital world,” said Brian Barfield, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “With expanded access to AT&T 5G, our customers will be able to experience enhanced network connectivity that will help with virtual learning, business growth, keeping communities safe and connecting with one another.”
From 2021 to 2025, AT&T invested more than $18.2 billion in our wireless and wireline networks in Georgia to boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and businesses.
