Brady Lum, the former chief operating officer at Atlanta's High Museum, pleaded guilty Monday in a federal embezzlement case.
Lum officially pleaded guilty to the accusations contained in a criminal information document, including "theft concerning programs receiving federal funds." Lum resigned in February and was accused of stealing more than $600,000 from the museum by altering invoices and approving payments for personal purchases.
He will be sentenced November 2 at 10 a.m. His charge carries a maximum of 10 years in federal prison but also has no mandatory minimum sentence, which means he could avoid jail time. His maximum fine is twice the alleged amount stolen ($600k doubled for $1.2 million).
According to federal prosecutors, Lum allegedly used his position at the museum to funnel money for personal purchases over several years.
