McKendrick's Steak House Welcomes Branden Holte as New Executive Chef

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, July 29th, 2026

McKendrick's Steak House, one of Atlanta's most celebrated steakhouses & fine dining destinations for more than 30 years, announces that Branden Holte will join the restaurant as Executive Chef, starting July 2026.

An Atlanta native, Holte brings more than 20 years of experience leading kitchens across the city's most respected restaurants. He trained under acclaimed chef Pano Karatassos at Kyma before developing an extensive whole-animal butchery and charcuterie program at the celebrated Bull & Beggar in Asheville, North Carolina.

Returning to Atlanta, Holte served as Executive Chef at Under the Cork Tree, helped open Prime 120 in Woodstock, and rose to Culinary Director and, later, Director of Operations for Succulent Hospitality.

Most recently, Chef Holte held leadership roles at Local Three Kitchen & Bar and Warhorse Atlanta, a private members-only dining concept, where he co-opened Seahorse, an exclusive 28-seat sushi omakase experience, alongside McKendrick's Operating Partner, Anthony Casiello.

The appointment comes as McKendrick's marks more than 30 years as one of Atlanta's most enduring fine dining institutions. That legacy is built on exceptional food and, just as importantly, the relationships with generations of guests and a staff whose dedication and warmth have made McKendrick's feel like home for decades. As McKendrick's enters its next chapter, the classic steakhouse format that has defined it since 1995 remains at the core, now paired with a newly modernized kitchen program under Holte that introduces in-house butchery, house-made bread, and a deeper commitment to local farmers and producers.

After an extensive search, Holte emerged as the clear choice, a chef whose steakhouse pedigree, hands-on approach to craft, and genuine passion for hospitality align seamlessly with the values McKendrick's was built on.

"What draws me to this opportunity is the chance to be part of a well-established steakhouse with a rich history,” said incoming Executive Chef Branden Holte.

"I'm excited to bring my knowledge and creativity to help this classic steakhouse reconnect with a new generation. My goal is to honor the traditions that have always made it special while introducing new elements to broaden its appeal to a new generation of diners. Just as important, I look forward to working alongside people who share my passion for great food, genuine hospitality, and memorable experiences for every guest."

"From the moment we met him, it was clear he understood what makes this restaurant special — the warmth, craftsmanship, and commitment to making every guest feel at home,” said Claudia and Doug McKendrick, co-founders of McKendrick's Steak House.

“He has the experience and the heart to carry that forward for years to come."

Holte and Casiello previously partnered to open Seahorse, and this appointment reunites them at McKendrick's. "Chef Holte and I have always made a strong team because we see food, beverage, and service the same way," said Anthony Casiello, Operating Partner of McKendrick's Steak House. "He has the rare combination of classic steakhouse discipline and genuine creative instinct. I couldn't be more excited for what he's going to bring to our menu and guests."

For Holte, the move is a chance to lead one of Atlanta's most enduring fine dining institutions into its most exciting chapter yet. “At the end of the day, this is about honoring something special," said Chef Holte. "McKendrick's has been a cornerstone of Atlanta dining for three decades, built on the relationships between our team and the guests who return year after year. My goal is to make sure every guest who walks through that door experiences what has made this place legendary, while getting a taste of where we're headed next."
