Kroger’s Atlanta Division has started construction on its new $45.7 million Marketplace in Statesboro. The 99,000-square-foot store is expected to open in fall 2027 at the northeast corner of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Cypress Lake Road.
“We are thrilled to begin construction on this beautiful new Kroger Marketplace and bring a fresh, convenient shopping experience to Statesboro,” said Monica Garnes, president of Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are also excited to serve the faculty, staff and students of Georgia Southern University as we become an active partner in the broader Statesboro community.”
In addition to Kroger’s popular floral, bakery, deli, meat and fresh produce departments, the Marketplace will offer an expanded selection of products and services, including:
- Murray’s Cheese
- Freshly prepared sushi
- Household, baby, toy, and pet departments
- Enhanced health and beauty department
- Full-service pharmacy with drive-thru service
- Adjacent fuel center
- Grocery pickup services
The Kroger Marketplace will anchor a 21-acre shopping center that will also include four outparcels and 10,850 square feet of additional retail space. Chris Senn and Daniel Holloway of Southeastern Development are co-developing the shopping center and will oversee leasing and marketing for the outparcels and retail space.
“Kroger’s commitment to Statesboro will extend well beyond the walls of our store,” Garnes said. “Through Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social impact plan, we will work alongside local community partners to support hunger-relief programs and help reduce food insecurity throughout the region.”
