The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) will host a virtual open house on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026 to gather public feedback on the region’s new Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

The TIP allocates $19.2 billion in federal, state, and local funding for transportation projects from 2027 to 2030. The TIP is the short-term, funded portion of the region’s long-range Metropolitan Transportation Plan.

The TIP includes $89 million for 43 new projects selected by ARC through a solicitation process that drew applications from jurisdictions across the region’s 19-county Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) area. These projects include bicycle-pedestrian improvements, transit investments, planning studies, safety enhancements, and technology upgrades that ease congestion through smarter signals and operations.

• Tara Boulevard Safety Improvements (Clayton County)
  ARC is investing $5.4 million to purchase right-of-way for this project, which aims to improve safety for people walking, biking, and taking transit on one of the region’s busiest corridors. The project will fill in gaps in the sidewalks on both sides of the road, build ADA-accessible ramps, and install street lighting. The goal: reducing serious crashes while expanding equitable access to jobs and services.
• The Stitch (City of Atlanta)
  ARC is awarding $3 million for pre-engineering for this project, which aims to reconnect Downtown neighborhoods severed by construction of the Downtown Connector. The project will build a public green space over the highway that will be the heart of a new Downtown neighborhood and promote equitable access, enhance quality of life and foster sustainable, resilient economic growth.
• Roswell Road Corridor Improvements (City of Sandy Springs)
  ARC is investing $9 million to improve safety and mobility on Roswell Road between Dunwoody Place and the Chattahoochee River. The project includes a new signalized intersection and connector road, upgraded Dunwoody Place intersection, multi-use path on the east side and 6-foot sidewalk on the west side, both with landscaped buffers, and pedestrian lighting.
• Transit Operations Facility (Clayton County)
  ARC is awarding $8 million for a new operations & maintenance hub that is able to accommodate zero-emission transit vehicles. The facility will strengthen the region’s transit infrastructure and improve the reliability and efficiency of bus operations across Clayton County.

The virtual open house takes place on Monday, Sept. 28 from 4-6 p.m. Registration is required.

The Transportation Improvement Program is the mechanism by which federal, state, and local funds are approved for all significant surface transportation projects and programs in the region. The TIP is updated several times throughout the year as projects change or new funding becomes available.
