The Atlanta Opera is once again offering free tickets to veterans and active-duty military personnel for its 2026–27 season, continuing its Veterans Program, which has welcomed members of the United States military community to the opera for nearly a decade.

Sponsored by The Home Depot Foundation, the program provides approximately 7,000 complimentary tickets each season to veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Since The Atlanta Opera made the program permanent in 2017, thousands of members of the military community have experienced opera through this initiative.

“We’re grateful to the veterans and active-duty service members who join us at the opera house,” said Tomer Zvulun, General & Artistic Director of The Atlanta Opera. “The Home Depot Foundation’s generosity has allowed us to welcome more than 50,000 veterans and service members with complimentary tickets over the past decade, and we hope each visit gives them a meaningful evening with family and friends — a chance to sit back and experience live opera together.”

The 2026–27 season, "Odyssey,” features four mainstage productions at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre:

• Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell’s Silent Night — November 7–15, 2026
• Georges Bizet’s Carmen — January 30–February 7, 2027
• Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman — March 13–21, 2027
• Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca — May 1–9, 2027

Veterans and active-duty military personnel may secure up to four complimentary tickets for each of the four mainstage productions.

How the Veterans Program Works

Veterans and active-duty military personnel must first register for a Veterans Program membership with The Atlanta Opera. Membership accounts are verified using military identification. 

Once registered, eligible members can use their Atlanta Opera account to access and reserve available complimentary tickets. On the day of the performance, tickets are held at the box office for pickup, and the veteran or active-duty service member must present a matching valid ID.

The Atlanta Opera’s Veterans Program began with the company’s production of Soldier Songs in 2016, which explored the experiences of military veterans and included post-performance conversations with veterans. Following an enthusiastic response, the program was expanded and, in 2017, for the Atlanta premiere of Silent Night by Puts and Campbell, became a permanent initiative providing complimentary tickets to service members and their families. The program was recognized with an ArtsATL Luminary Award for Community Engagement in 2019.
