Douglas County Chamber & Community Leaders Advocate for Douglas County During D.C. Fly-In

The Douglas County Chamber led a delegation of business, government, education, and community leaders to Washington, D.C. September 22–24 for its annual Washington, D.C. Fly-In, bringing a unified Douglas County voice directly to federal leaders.
The annual Fly-In provides an opportunity for community leaders to collectively advocate for the federal priorities that support Douglas County’s continued growth and quality of life. This year’s discussions focused on critical needs and opportunities in transportation, energy and infrastructure, water, education, workforce development, public safety, and economic development.
During the three-day visit, the Douglas County delegation met with the offices of U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, Congresswoman Lucy McBath, and Congressman Brian Jack. The group also participated in federal workforce and policy briefings at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and attended a constituent coffee with Senator Warnock.

Fly-In is one of the best examples of what can happen when Douglas speaks with one voice,” said Sara Ray, President & CEO of the Douglas County Chamber. “We brought leaders from across our community together around shared priorities and had meaningful conversations about the federal resources, policies, and investments that can support Douglas County’s continued growth. I’m incredibly proud of the collaboration our delegation demonstrated and grateful to our congressional leaders and their teams for taking the time to hear directly from our community.”
The trip was led by Ray along with Douglas County Chamber Government Affairs Council Chairs Blake Doss of GreyStone Power Corporation and Chris Sizemore of INCISIVE. The Chamber’s Government Affairs Council works throughout the year with local stakeholders and community partners to identify and develop priorities that represent the needs of Douglas County’s businesses, residents, and institutions.
Throughout the visit, delegation members advocated for projects and policies important to Douglas County, including transportation infrastructure improvements, reliable and affordable energy to support future growth, water infrastructure, and federal support for education and workforce development.
