Emory University continues to be listed among the nation’s top universities, coming in at No. 23 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2027 “Best Colleges” rankings. 

The rankings also list Emory at No. 19 for undergraduate teaching and No. 19 for “Best Value,” which is based on academic value and cost. This distinction recognizes Emory’s longstanding commitment to making an exceptional education accessible to all qualified students. The university started the Emory Advantage program in 2007 and expanded it this fall with Emory Advantage Plus, which allows students whose families earn $200,000 or less to attend tuition-free. 

"We should take pride in this recognition and in the extraordinary faculty, students and staff whose talent and dedication define Emory,” says Badia Ahad, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. “I am especially proud of Emory’s achievements for undergraduate teaching and best value. These distinctions reflect our commitment to ensuring that talented students from every background can access an exceptional education, learn from extraordinary faculty, and receive the support they need to flourish at Emory and beyond.”

Several undergraduate programs were also recognized by U.S. News. The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing earned the No.1 spot for its undergraduate nursing program. Goizueta Business School’s undergraduate business program ranked No. 15.

“I believe deeply that the caliber of Emory’s academic enterprise, and our potential for even greater distinction, call us to keep raising our ambitions,” says Ahad. “Our focus must remain on the fundamentals of academic excellence, from student success and outcomes to groundbreaking research and scholarship, and on building the distinctive programs that will define Emory’s next chapter. A ranking is one measure of our progress, but it is not the measure of our potential. We have much to celebrate, and even more to accomplish.”

Today’s rankings follow other recognition Emory received this year. Emory was named one of the “New Ivies” (Forbes) for excellence in preparing students for careers with artificial intelligence and setting up graduates for success. Emory also placed No. 26 among the World's Top Universities of 2026 (TIME) and remains one of the top producers of students and alumni who receive the U.S. Fulbright Awards.
