The Lawrence Hotel Now Open, Bringing Boutique Hospitality to the Heart of Downtown Lawrenceville

The Lawrence Hotel, Gwinnett County's first upscale, boutique, full-service hotel, is now open, marking a milestone nearly eight years in the making for the city’s growing downtown district.
Located at 120 E. Crogan St., just steps from the Historic Downtown Square and less than a block from the Lawrenceville Arts Center, home of the Aurora Theatre, The Lawrence is a new-build, 120-room hotel within Hilton’s Tapestry Collection. Developed and managed by NorthPointe Hospitality Management & Development, the four-story property brings together boutique accommodations, two distinct food and beverage concepts, more than 6,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, a fitness center and an inviting courtyard in the heart of one of metro Atlanta’s most dynamic downtown districts.

The Lawrence arrives as downtown Lawrenceville continues to evolve as a destination for dining, arts, entertainment and community gathering. Its location places visitors within walking distance of locally owned restaurants and shops, community events and more while giving residents a new destination for dining, casual gatherings and celebrations.

A Hotel Rooted in the City of Lawrenceville
Designed to feel unmistakably connected to its surroundings, The Lawrence blends contemporary boutique style with elements inspired by Lawrenceville’s history and character. The brick exterior, wrought-iron accents and oversized factory-style guestroom windows pay tribute to the city’s legacy of hard work and industry, while interiors soften those industrial influences with warm wood, stone, leather and abundant natural light.
Throughout the hotel, brick arches frame intimate gathering spaces and conversation areas, while organic materials and thoughtfully curated details create an atmosphere that feels sophisticated yet approachable. The result is a property designed not simply as a place to stay, but as an extension of downtown Lawrenceville itself.
The location of The Lawrence's building holds a long history itself, as the area was once home to the Lawrenceville cotton mill, which later became the Genesco shoe factory up until the 1970's. The Lawrence's building was designed to feel similar in spirit to that of what was once the Genesco factory, an intentional nod to the heritage of the city.
A New Dining Destination
The Lawrence also introduces two new dining and beverage experiences to downtown Lawrenceville, both led by Director of Culinary Chef Dominic Simpson, an Atlanta native with more than 25 years of culinary experience. At Bellfire, the hotel’s signature restaurant, Southern roots meet Mediterranean influences through an ingredient-driven menu centered around the wood-fired grill.
Named in tribute to Lawrenceville’s historic bell tower and firehouse, Bellfire incorporates Georgia Grown™ and regional products throughout its menu, working with purveyors including Ellijay Mushrooms, Plantation Quail, Comfort Farms, Joyce Farms and Anson Mills. Menu highlights include Stuffed Bramlett Farms Trout with Crawfish Succotash and Fire-Grilled Châtel Farms Prime Ribeye.
Just beyond Bellfire, Old Nick’s offers a relaxed indoor-outdoor setting featuring craft cocktails, fine whiskey, wine, local beer, shareable plates and zero-proof options. Named for a hardworking mule that once hauled firefighting equipment through Lawrenceville, the lounge and adjoining courtyard bring another piece of local history into the hotel while creating an inviting gathering place for guests and locals alike.
