Goodwill of North Georgia Announces Doraville Store & Career Center Grand Opening

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, October 15th, 2026

Goodwill of North Georgia is excited to announce the grand opening of its new Doraville Storeand Career Center at 5600 Buford Highway NE on Friday, Oct. 16, at 9 a.m. This 43,000-square-foot location combines a full retail store and a no-cost career center under one roof.

The new Doraville location is the organization’s seventh store in DeKalb County, joining Decatur, Flat Shoals, South Hairston, Tucker, Northlake and Northeast Plaza.

The opening created approximately 28 retail jobs and about 8 career services positions, putting residents to work from day one.

“Our 100th anniversary was a milestone, not a finish line,” said Keith Parker, President and CEO of Goodwill of North Georgia. “Doraville shows what our continued investment into the communities we serve looks like: a modern store and a career center where every purchase and donation turns into opportunity.”

Holiday shoppers will have plenty to celebrate, as the Doraville store will be home to Goodwill of North Georgia's second curated shopping area, called the Seasonal Spot, which debuted in Marietta during the organization's 100th anniversary.

Decorated for Christmas in time for opening day, the Doraville Seasonal Spot offers a larger footprint and even more visual appeal than the original. Santa will also be on site, giving families a chance to take holiday photos early and skip the long lines at other retailers.

Shoppers are encouraged to arrive early as the first 72 shoppers and donors will receive special gifts, and Savvy Shoppers Club members will earn double points all day at the new location.

Alongside the store, the Doraville Career Center will offer residents no-cost job training, career coaching, and employment resources. It will launch with three training programs: Supply Chain Management, Construction and Phlebotomy.

Job seekers will also have access to:
• 20 computers on the career center’s main floor
• 16 additional computers in a dedicated computer lab
• Three private interview rooms
• Bilingual, Spanish-speaking staff members

The career center also plans to partner with local employers to help fill open positions and will host resource and job fairs for the community.

“This career center was built for the people of Doraville, and it’s designed to meet them where they are,” said Jenny Taylor, Vice President of Career Services for Goodwill of North Georgia.

“Thanks to the support of the Goizueta Foundation, residents can train for careers in high- demand fields like supply chain, construction, and health care. They’ll also find the computers, private interview space and bilingual staff they need to take the next step. We look forward to working alongside local employers to connect our neighbors with good jobs close to home.”

The Doraville store will also introduce Goodwill of North Georgia’s first-ever GoodBIZ Market—a store-within-a-store designed to showcase local micro-entrepreneurs in a thoughtfully curated retail space. Graduates of the GoodBIZ program or entrepreneurship training partners, such as the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), can pitch their businesses to a panel of Goodwill’s Career Services and Donated Goods Retail staff. Those selected become rotating, consigned vendors in the market for a set period.

The Doraville Store and Career Center marks another chapter in Goodwill of North Georgia’s steady growth. In the past two years, new stores have opened in Commerce and Jasper. Building on that momentum, a new store and career center are planned for Douglasville in fiscal year 2027, with a search already underway for a third location.

“With Douglasville coming in early 2027 and another new store in the works, we are committed to reaching more North Georgians who are ready to work,” Parker said.

When you shop and donate at Goodwill of North Georgia, you help fulfill its mission to put people to work. Shop and donate today to support that mission. Last year, during its 100th anniversary, Goodwill of North Georgia put more than 24,000 people to work and served more than 50,000 people with career services.
