Life University (Life U) has appointed Dr. Brian Kelly as its new President, bringing more than three decades of experience in chiropractic education, higher education leadership and clinical practice to the Marietta-based university.

Kelly was selected following an extensive executive search conducted in partnership with executive search firm CarterBaldwin. He will lead Life U at an important time for the institution, as higher education faces significant changes in enrollment, finances, technology and student expectations.

Kelly has previously led two chiropractic colleges through periods of significant growth and development.

“Dr. Kelly has a remarkable track record of stepping into institutions at pivotal moments and changing their trajectory,” said Dr. Sandra Elbaum, Chairman of the Life University Board of Trustees. “Our search focused on finding a President who could strengthen the University’s foundation, uphold its academic standards and position Life U for sustainable growth. Brian brings the leadership experience, professional credibility and vision to help us do exactly that.”

Kelly earned his chiropractic qualification in Australia and an MBA through the University of Waikato in New Zealand. He has held numerous professional leadership roles in the chiropractic profession internationally.

More recently, Kelly has worked in private practice in Auckland, New Zealand, focusing on elite athletes and concussion care through upper cervical chiropractic.

The appointment comes as Life U works to strengthen its financial position, academic programs, enrollment and long-term growth. Kelly’s background in institutional development and leadership will also support the University’s efforts to expand research, strengthen relationships with alumni and donors, and advance opportunities for campus development.

“Life University holds a unique responsibility in higher education,” Kelly said. “I believe deeply in what Life U can be, and I am excited to listen, learn and work alongside our students, faculty, staff, alumni and partners as we build its next chapter together.”

The Board expressed its gratitude to interim leaders Dr. Brian McAulay and Dr. Lee Skinkle for their service during Life U’s recent transition. Both played important roles in strengthening the University’s compliance position, stabilizing its financial health and preparing the institution for its next phase of leadership.
