Cushman & Wakefield announced today that Mark Lindenbaum has joined the firm as Executive Director and will lead the firm’s Atlanta Land & Development Services advisory group as part of the broader Capital Markets team.

Lindenbaum’s appointment enhances Cushman & Wakefield’s Capital Markets capabilities at a pivotal time for the Atlanta development market. The newly strengthened land advisory practice will focus on advising landowners, developers, investors, municipalities and corporate users on the acquisition, disposition and capitalization of development opportunities, including urban infill sites, suburban mixed-use projects, industrial developments, multifamily communities and large-scale master-planned projects.

Throughout his career, Lindenbaum has completed transactions involving more than 25,000 acres of land valued at more than $1 billion. Those sites have supported the development of approximately 15,000 single-family residential lots, 6,000 multifamily units, 15 million square feet of industrial space, 1.5 million square feet of retail space, 1.75 million square feet of office space and more than 1,200 hotel rooms.

“As an industry we’re navigating beyond the peak noise of the past few years, however the capital environment is still very discerning,” said Lindenbaum. “Equity and debt are readily available, but elevated borrowing costs and underwriting standards continue to hamper development, despite the improving underlying fundamentals across most asset classes. Our team is leveraging capital relationships and managing execution risk for our clients as the market resets and more land is put into production heading into next year.”

According to Lindenbaum, Metro Atlanta is entering the early stages of a new development cycle, supported by constrained construction activity and strong demand fundamentals across select property sectors. With limited near-term delivery pipelines, developers are increasingly focused on identifying strategic land opportunities that support future growth.

The expansion of the Atlanta land advisory platform was led by Chris Ahrenkiel, Managing Principal for Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office. Under Ahrenkiel’s leadership, the firm has continued to broaden its service offerings and strengthen its position as the leading commercial real estate advisor in the region.

“Mark has an exceptional talent for seeing around corners, spotting viable development opportunities early, aligning stakeholders, bridging execution gaps and bringing capital together,” said Ahrenkiel. “He’s been a driving force behind some of the most transformative development projects in the Southeast. We set out to add a market leader when evaluating our land advisory strategy, and Mark more than fulfills that goal.”

Lindenbaum joins an established Atlanta Capital Markets team that includes professionals across investment sales, debt and structured finance, equity placement and advisory services. Together, the platform provides clients with integrated expertise spanning the full lifecycle of development and investment strategies.

Lindenbaum joins Cushman & Wakefield from Foundry Commercial and, prior, was Managing Director with JLL’s Capital Markets group in Atlanta.
