YWCA Greater Atlanta Partners with Ulta Beauty to Empower Girls Through STEM, Wellness, and Career Exploration
Friday, October 16th, 2026
YWCA Greater Atlanta, in partnership with the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation, will host Pretty Empowered on Saturday, Oct. 24, bringing approximately 125 girls ages 8 to 15 together for a day of interactive learning, wellness, and career exploration.
Part of a nationwide initiative, Pretty Empowered introduces girls to new possibilities through hands-on activities that connect beauty, science, business, and personal development. This year's theme, "Beauty is Belonging," emphasizes the importance of inclusion, self-expression, and creating spaces where every girl feels valued and empowered.
Participants will explore cosmetic chemistry through STEM-based activities, discover the role of branding and retail operations in the beauty industry, and engage in self-care experiences focused on wellness and movement. The event is designed to spark curiousity and introduce girls to career pathways they may not have previously considered.
"Every girl deserves opportunities to discover her strengths, explore what's possible, and know that she belongs," said YWCA Greater Atlanta President and CEO Danita V. Knight. "Pretty Empowered connects girls with new experiences, career possibilities, and a community that celebrates their potential. Through our partnership with the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation, we're helping girls build the confidence to imagine and pursue their futures."
Launched in 2022 by YWCA Metropolitan Chicago with support from the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation, Pretty Empowered has grown from one site in its inaugural year to eight locations nationwide in 2024. The initiative has reached more than 1,200 participants.
Other participating YWCAs include YWCA El Paso Del Norte Region, YWCA Glendale & Pasadena, YWCA Kitsap County, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, YWCA Metropolitan St. Louis, YWCA Northern New Jersey, and YWCA South Florida.
The Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation’s continued support has been instrumental in expanding Pretty Empowered. The foundation’s focus on the holistic well-being of girls and young women aligns with YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism and empower women.
“Ulta Beauty is proud to continue our partnership with YWCA through Pretty Empowered, an initiative that reflects our shared commitment to helping young women realize their full potential,” said Amiee Bayer Thomas, chief retail officer at Ulta Beauty and board member for YWCA Metropolitan Chicago. “By creating spaces that foster confidence, belonging, and curiosity, we’re helping young women explore new possibilities — in beauty, in STEM, and beyond — and empowering the next generation of leaders.”
