Atlanta Tech Village, the Southeast’s largest co-working and office environment for emerging technology companies and tech startups, looks toward the year ahead by celebrating its accomplishments and that of the villagers it supported in 2016. Four years in, the Village is a thriving hub for collaboration and innovation for startups across the Southeast, and one of the top four tech hubs in the U.S.
Supporting a Community of Innovative Startups
At the core of its mission, the Village exists to support the growth of the Atlanta startup community providing not only open and productive work environments, but creating moments to forge connections, innovation and a sense of community.
“The Village is only as successful as the companies we support and host,” explains David Cummings, founder, Atlanta Tech Village. “We are so proud of our Villagers’ accomplishments and really the accomplishments of the Atlanta startup community as a whole in 2016. We fully expect to see this momentum continue in full force in 2017.”
Villagers last year experienced tremendous growth, bringing 2,781 jobs to the Atlanta community and raising more than $325 million in capital. In addition, a number of companies experienced so much growth and success that they were graduated out of the Village. These companies include growing brands such as IO Education, Terminus and Salesloft.
Forging Meaningful Relationships with Atlanta’s Business Community
The Village strives to create an enriching environment for its Villagers, while remaining grounded in the Atlanta Business community. In this quest, the tech hub works to make valuable contributions and forge meaningful relationships with Atlanta’s more innovative companies.
Throughout the course of 2016, The Village hosted two intern fairs that connected more than 1,238 students with job opportunities at 107 tech companies. The Village also housed more than 430 events and meetups -- including 46 Startup Chowdown’s where 12,144 meals were served to entrepreneurs; 5 hacks including the Braves App Challenge, the Goodie Ideation Hack, the re:imagineATL Hack, BetterCloud's BetterHack and the BSides Atlanta Hack. At the helm of these events were a number of cornerstone innovative partners including Microsoft, Honeywell, the Atlanta Braves and Coca-Cola – all relationships sparked in the past year. These companies joined a healthy list of innovative partners including the Metro Atlanta Chamber.
“As the numbers show, 2016 was another year of growth for the Village and our villagers,” adds Cummings. “We look forward to the promise 2017 holds for both our Villagers and the growing startup community in Atlanta. It’s our mission to dream big and foster growth in and outside of our walls,” Cummings concludes.
As one of the fastest growing technology startup centers and co-working communities in the Southeast, the Village is dedicated to fostering innovation and collaboration and driving economic development in the Atlanta community and beyond.
