Habitat for Humanity and Bank of America are partnering for the fourth consecutive year on a Global Build that will engage bank employees and local Habitat organizations around the world. Between Sept. 30 – Oct. 7, approximately 2,500 employee volunteers (#BofAVolunteers) will join their local Habitat organizations to help build, rehab or repair homes and revitalize neighborhoods in more than 90 communities in six countries, including the United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia, Hong Kong and Indonesia.
“Stable, affordable housing is fundamental for families and individuals to create a pathway to long-term success,” said Kerry Sullivan, president of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. “Our partnership with Habitat is an example of how our collective efforts ― from funding to volunteer engagement ― result in life-changing opportunities for those in need of decent housing."
The Global Build is just one demonstration of the broader partnership between Habitat and Bank of America. For more than 30 years, Bank of America has partnered with local Habitat organizations, investing nearly $80 million in Habitat for Humanity’s work around the world, with more than $56 million of that going to Habitat for Humanity International in the form of cash and property donations. This commitment helps homeowners improve their lives and their communities through home construction or repairs and access to affordable housing. Additional Habitat support includes the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, disaster response, property donations, employee giving and the Global Impact Fund.
“We are so honored to be working alongside Bank of America employee volunteers during this week’s Global Build,” said Sue Henderson, vice president, U.S. and Canada, Habitat for Humanity International. “It is through the continued and committed support of organizations like Bank of America that we are able to help homeowners and their families build the independent, stable lives they have dreamed of having.”
Each year, Bank of America employees volunteer approximately 35,000 hours to support Habitat’s mission through building or improving homes, serving on the board of local Habitat organizations and providing financial literacy training for future Habitat homeowners.
