The Atlanta Board of REALTORS Releases June 2015 Statistics on Housing Market

The Atlanta Board of REALTORS, the largest association of its kind in Georgia, released its June 2015 Market Brief on residential housing statistics for 11 area counties in metro-Atlanta.  Market Brief, now compiled by First Multiple Listing Service (FMLS), provides the only regionally focused synopsis of monthly sales and home prices for single family residential properties.

Supply: Atlanta area housing inventory totaled 16,680 units in June, an increase of 3.0% from June 2014. New listings totaled 4,859, down 8% from June 2014 and down 10% from the previous month. The supply for sales over a 12 month period rose slightly to 4.1.

Demand:  June residential sales were at 5,492, an increase of 17.1% from the previous year.

Price: Average and median sales prices continue to gain traction and outpace 2014’s figures, with positive gains. The median sales price in June was $238,000, an increase of 3.9% from last June. The average sales price was $304,000, up 6.3% from the previous year.

A Word from ABR President Ennis Antoine: “83,200 jobs were created in the Atlanta area over the past year and June residential sales were a great indicator of the improving economy.  Median and average sales prices saw strong increases, indicating the stable housing recovery that the Atlanta area is experiencing.”
