Tuesday night, July 21, the mayor and city council voted to approve the Town Center building elevations giving the go-ahead for Fuqua Development to move forward with the city’s signature project. 

With the council’s 6-0 vote, (Councilmember Lowe was absent), Jeff Fuqua and his team will now move forward with the construction of the mixed-use development on the 20.6 acre tract of undeveloped land located on Peachtree Parkway across from The Forum. 

“We are excited to have the plans finalized and look forward to celebrating the city’s fifth anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new Town Center,” said Mayor Mike Mason. 

The plans include up to 10 restaurants, retails shops, office space, a theater and townhomes – and a two+ acre town green for community gatherings. Included in the plans are two restaurant outparcels and 16 townhomes overlooking the green. John Wieland Homes, developer for the three- and four-story townhomes, plans to build a total of 70 townhomes on the Town Center. 

“It’s taken awhile to get to this point,” said Councilmember Alex Wright. “We wanted to make sure the plans would fit our community’s needs and help showcase the city. I believe we’ve accomplished our goal.” 

Jeff Fuqua, owner of Fuqua Development said he expects to break ground on the project in second quarter of 2016 and anticipates the Town Center to be ready to open in July 2017.
