Mercedes-Benz USA, Urges Atlanta's Business Leaders on Hands on Atlanta Day to Get Involved

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, August 31st, 2015

Mercedes-Benz USA and Hands On Atlanta hosted a breakfast at the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Over 60 business leaders from the Greater Atlanta area came together to hear Stephen Cannon discuss the process of relocating to Atlanta and his reasons for choosing to sponsor Hands On Atlanta Day 2015 before MBUSA had even arrived in Atlanta.

Hands On Atlanta's President & CEO, Gina Simpson, welcomed MBUSA to Atlanta and thanked them for their support "Thank you all for joining us and for Mercedes -Benz's support of Hands On Atlanta Day which is so critical to our mission. We are working with some of Atlanta's most vulnerable communities to tackle their most pressing needs in the areas of Education, Youth Development and Family Support & Self-Sufficiency."

During Breakfast, Hands On Atlanta Advisory Board Member and Co-Chair for Hands On Atlanta Day 2015, Angela P. James, led a discussion with MBUSA President & CEO, Stephen Cannon.

"What would you say to the business leaders in Atlanta--many of whom are in the room now --about giving back and engaging the communities in which you live and work?"

-Angela P. James

"Not only are you giving back to your community, but by volunteering together you are helping your own business by building employee teams and connecting your business with a greater purpose."  –Stephen Cannon, CEO MBUSA

Later in the discussion, Mr. Cannon encouraged "A vibrant community is one in which businesses are giving back. Even in our calling, 'The Best or Nothing,' we see that as applying to how we give back to community."
