Mercedes-Benz USA Signs on as Presenting Sponsor of Hands On Atlanta Day 2015

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Tuesday, August 11th, 2015

Hands On Atlanta announced today that Mercedes-Benz USA will serve as presenting sponsor of Hands On Atlanta Day 2015, the annual event that enlists thousands of local residents to participate in large-scale community service projects across the Greater Atlanta area. Held on Oct. 3, 2015, Hands On Atlanta Day will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. Michelle Nunn, former executive director of Hands On Atlanta, will serve as honorary chair.

As presenting sponsor of Hands On Atlanta Day, MBUSA will help the nonprofit organization kick off its annual day of service, which last year recruited more than 4,000 volunteers to participate in 85 projects throughout the city's schools, parks and community centers. The event will mark MBUSA's first volunteer initiative in metro Atlanta as a member of the local community. In early July, the automaker relocated its corporate offices from its former home in Montvale, New Jersey, to a temporary site in Dunwoody, with plans to open a new headquarters building in nearby Sandy Springs by early 2018.

"Mercedes-Benz has a long history of giving back, both to improve the lives of others and lay the foundation for the next generation's success," said Stephen Cannon, president and CEO of MBUSA. "Joining forces with Hands On Atlanta is the perfect way to continue that legacy in our new home. When we roll up our sleeves and invest some sweat equity in our community, it makes a strong statement about who we are as a company and as individuals."

"We are thrilled that Mercedes-Benz has arrived in Atlanta with a true desire to give back to the city and connect with the community," said Gina Simpson, president and CEO of Hands On Atlanta. "By partnering as presenting sponsor of Hands On Atlanta Day 2015, MBUSA is not only demonstrating the high priority they place on volunteerism, but they are also setting an example for other business leaders. We are honored to partner with them in making our 25th Hands On Atlanta Day the most impactful yet!"
