After a one-year hiatus to hold a benefit walk in 2014, the Greater Atlanta Credit Union Chapter held its 12th Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on Aug. 29 at Bowlmor Atlanta.
The event raised $54,000 to support the Family Support Services Department at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This amount bested the previous Bowl-a-Thon results by more than $20,000.
An important part of the care patients receive at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is physical, emotional and spiritual support for them and their families. The Family Support Services Department provides psychosocial support, in-hospital programming, educational support, financial counseling, resources for traveling families and visitors, camps and other retreats, support groups, and information on community resources.
This year, there were 159 bowlers from 16 credit unions and sponsors who contributed to the overwhelming success of the event.
Nationwide, credit unions have raised more than $120 million for affiliated children’s hospitals since 1996.
