Georgia Governor Declares December 7-10th Employee Learning Week

Recognizing their important contributions to Georgia being named as a top place in the United States to do business, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal met with members of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association for Talent Development at the Capitol recently to recognize and commend their efforts to promote awareness of workplace learning and performance.  At the meeting, Governor Deal presented the members with a state proclamation formally declaring December 7-11, 2015 as Employee Learning Week in the state of Georgia.  

“A capable, educated workforce is essential to Georgia’s economic vitality, driving growth and innovation,” according to the proclamation. “Businesses and organizations that are committed to creating a highly skilled workforce recognize the competitive advantage it gives them…” and “continued employee learning develops individual and organizational knowledge and expertise.” 

“The Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association for Talent Development and its members are honored to receive this recognition from the state of Georgia,” said Sarah Gilbert, president of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the ATD.  “We appreciate Governor Deal’s support of our efforts to promote workplace learning and performance.” 

“Employee Learning Week is a wonderful opportunity for organizations to highlight the important connection between learning and achieving organizational results,” said Doug Samuels, president-elect of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the ATD.  “Business leaders realize that the most important asset in our knowledge economy is talent, and a skilled workforce is the key to realizing results. Greater Atlanta Chapter ATD members are the professionals who make that possible.”
