PolicyLink's Angela Glover Blackwell Headlines Georgia Budget & Policy Institute Event

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, January 4th, 2016

PolicyLink CEO Angela Glover Blackwell is the headline speaker for the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute’s annual January conference held in conjunction with the convening of the state General Assembly. The daylong event starts at 8:30 a.m., Jan. 7, 2016 at The Carter Center. Register now!

The conference, “Charting a Path: Ensuring Economic Opportunity for Georgia’s Families,” is designed to spotlight ways to bring everyone along as the state emerges from its economic doldrums.  Attendees get a chance to engage with national and local experts on strategies to boost family income and improve family economic security through critical work support programs. The conference will also explore the data behind our changing state and how structural barriers to mobility must be cleared away to create a Georgia where everyone prospers.

Blackwell is president and CEO of the Oakland, Calif.-based PolicyLink research institute that connects the work of people on the ground to the creation of sustainable communities of opportunity that allow everyone to participate and prosper. She is a leader in the movement for equity in America and an advocate for public policy solutions that improve access and opportunity for all low-income people and communities of color.

You’ll get new insight into Georgia’s changing demographics during a presentation from an expert from Neighborhood Nexus.  GBPI’s own expert will preview the key issues expected in the 2016 legislative session.

Three panel discussions will fill out the day with detailed explorations of the conference theme.

  • Making Work Pay
  • Increasing Economic Stability for Georgia’s Families
  • Addressing Structural Barriers – a Local Perspective
