ATL's Caring for Others Gives Away 1000s of Pairs of New Kids Shoes on March 12th

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Each year, Atlanta-based human services agency Caring For Others, Inc. holds a shoe distribution at its South Atlanta location and gives away brand new shoes to children. This year’s “No Bare Soles” event takes place on Saturday, March 12 at 12 p.m., and the non-profit organization plans to give away thousands of pairs of shoes.

“We started our No Bare Soles shoe distribution when realized that keeping children in shoes can be a major challenge for the families we serve,” says Caring For Others President & CEO Eslene Richmond-Shockley. “When families have to choose between paying the electricity bill and buying their children shoes that fit, that is a problem for me. We want every child to know the feeling that comes from wearing a new pair of shoes that fit perfectly.”

Families do not need to pre-register for No Bare Soles to participate, but all children receiving shoes must be present at the distribution, and parents or guardians must present an original birth certificate for each child.

Caring For Others is located at 3537 Browns Mill Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30354. No Bare Soles will be held in the spacious Caring For Others parking lot in front of the building. More information is available at www.caring4others.org.

In addition to distributing footwear locally during No Bare Soles, Caring For Others provides children around the world with brand new shoes throughout the year. Past international shoe distributions have included Antigua, Guyana, Nepal and The Philippines. Since its inception, Caring For Others has distributed more than 100,000 pairs of shoes to children in need.  This year, the organization aims to increase that number by 10,000 worldwide.
