Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation recently announced a capital campaign, the Next Generation of Healthcare, to raise $30 million by 2020, which marks the 30th anniversary of the foundation. Foundation officials unveiled the campaign at their annual Cornerstone Society Gala, which featured Comedian Seth Meyers of "The Late Show with Seth Meyers.”

If goals are met, this fundraising campaign is set to be the largest in the history of Gwinnett County.  The announcement was made at the gala, held Saturday night at the Infinite Energy Center.

According to Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation board chairperson Tammy Shumate, of Atlanta, Georgia, the campaign is designed to “accelerate the transformation of healthcare in the north metro community.”

“The community’s generosity has been an integral part of GMC’s success; it will continue to play a role in the delivery of healthcare for years to come,” said Gwinnett Medical Center’s Phil Wolfe, president and CEO. “Community members, businesses and GMC employees have a proud history of providing support to grow the health system and I’m confident they will once again help accelerate that pace.”

Wolfe confirmed the monies raised in the community will solely benefit the health system’s acute-care hospitals in Lawrenceville and Duluth, the Gwinnett Women’s Pavilion, the Gwinnett Extended Care Center and Glancy Rehabilitation Center.

Recent philanthropic contributions from the community have funded the Strickland Family Medicine Center, The Concussion Institute, The Cancer Center and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
