Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has been ranked among FORTUNE magazine’s elite list of “100 Best Companies to Work For” in America. It is the 11th consecutive time the not-for-profit pediatric health care system has been named to the list. Children’s is one of only two healthcare systems in Georgia to appear on the list, and one of only four companies headquartered in Georgia. When broken down by size, Children’s placed 16th in the midsized company sub-category, and earned special recognition for being a top company in wages for nurses and nurse managers. Children’s also received recognition for being a top employer for minorities and women.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to making kids better today and healthier tomorrow. The free-standing pediatric health care system’s specialized care helps children get better faster and live healthier lives. Managing more than half a million patient visits annually at three hospitals and 27 neighborhood locations, Children’s is the largest health care provider for children in Georgia and one of the largest pediatric clinical care providers in the country. Children’s puts a primary focus on employees, so it makes sense that the organization was ranked on a list that highlights specialty areas such as health care, child care and work-life balance.

In addition to traditional benefits, Children’s offers many unique programs, including backup child care, onsite massage, concierge services, expectant parent support and $10,000 in adoption and fertility assistance. Children’s is committed to supporting employees – at work and at home. For example, programs like Strong4Life, offer physical fitness and stress relief options.

“Our employees are what make Children’s a great place to work. Their compassion and dedication to our patients and each other shines through in everything they do,” said Linda Matzigkeit, Chief Administrative Officer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. “We are honored to celebrate our 11th consecutive year on FORTUNE’s list of best companies to work for, and grateful to our employees for all they do to make Children’s such a special place.”

Children’s was selected among hundreds of companies vying for a place on the list this year. Applicant companies opt to participate in the selection process, which includes an employee survey and an in-depth questionnaire about their programs and company practices. Great Place to Work then evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
