Where Atlanta Magazine honored Mark Castriota, general manager of Loews Atlanta Hotel with a Silver Plume Award for 2016 General Manager of the Year. The Silver Plume Awards honor the concierge staff and general managers who go above and beyond to provide the highest level of customer service within Atlanta’s hospitality industry.
“It’s an honor to be recognized with the Silver Plume Award for GM of the Year,” said Castriota. “At Loews Atlanta, we are dedicated to creating memorable and exceptional experiences for our guests and this award is as much a reflection on our incredible team members and the work they do every day to ensure we deliver on that promise.”
Castriota’s leadership continues to bring Loews Atlanta Hotel to new heights. In 2015, the hotel experienced unprecedented success in all metrics, including guest satisfaction, team member satisfaction, revenues, market share and EBITDA. His dedication to staff development and mentorship led to 45 internal team member promotions or transfers within the brand and a new Supervisor Development Program identifies current and future potential leaders.
In addition to his impact on the hotel, Castriota is also committed to being a good community neighbor. He serves as chair of the Atlanta Hotel Council Executive Committee, on the board of the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau and on the fundraising board of the Woodruff Arts Center. He donates his time and assistance to organizations including Slater elementary School, DonorsChoose.org, Open Hand Atlanta, Atlanta Children’s Shelter, Angels Among Us and Atlanta Food Bank.
Loews Atlanta Hotel also served as host for the 2016 Silver Plume Awards, welcoming more than 100 of Atlanta’s top travel industry professionals including members of the Concierge Society of Atlanta. The evening featured a four course meal from Executive Chef Olivier Gaupin and wine pairings selected by Director of Food & Beverage Chris Matthew. Gaupin and Matthew presented each course to guests via live fed from the kitchen. Loews Atlanta VIP Manager and last year’s Concierge of the Year nominee Jonathan Vendrick served as emcee.
