According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 61 million adults in the U.S. are at risk for vision loss, yet only half have visited an eye doctor in the previous 12 months. Equally vital to treating vision impairment, eye exams also serve as a preventative measure to detect systemic conditions which can manifest in the eye like diabetes and hypertension.

Busy work schedules often make it difficult to squeeze in important medical appointments. That’s where Boston-based start-up, 2020 On-site Optometry comes in. Beginning this April, Atlanta employers can help make getting an eye exam much more convenient. Founded in 2014 by CEO, Howard Bornstein, 2020 On-Site is revolutionizing eye care with all-new mobile vision centers bringing eye exams right to companies.

2020 On-Site launched its first mobile vision center in the Boston area and has since grown to encompass four MVCs, partnering with more than 160 corporate clients, servicing approximately 8,000 patients. Each MVC is staffed with an optometrist, a technician and store manager, are retrofitted with state-of-the-art equipment including HD retinal imaging machines and includes a retail store with contacts, sunglasses and more than 300 frames available for purchase.

2020 On-site aims to make its services an easy added, and compelling, benefit to employer wellness programs helping to drive employee engagement. Exams come at no extra cost to employers. Logistics, such as parking permits, are handled by 2020 and employees conveniently schedule exams via an online booking system. Beyond unparalleled convenience, employees receive HD retinal imaging and contact prescription renewals at no extra charge.

Like brick and mortar clinics, 2020 accepts most major insurance plans. For out of network plans, 2020 makes the reimbursement process simple for employees to minimize out-of-pocket expenses. Should further care or follow up be necessary, 2020 On-Site offers patients’ direct connection to its network of pathology specialists.

“We are incredibly excited to bring our services to the Atlanta market,” said Bornstein. “We chose Atlanta because it is dense in population, home to many corporate headquarters, and notorious for traffic congestion. Our hope is that we can eliminate the need to fight traffic for appointments, make exams convenient for local businesses, and add great value to wellness programs throughout the city.”
