President Barack Obama has announced his intent to appoint MARTA GM/CEO, Keith T. Parker, AICP, to the National Infrastructure Advisory Council.
The council provides the president -- through the Secretary of Homeland Security -- with advice on the security of the critical infrastructure sectors and their information systems. The council comprises a maximum of 30 members, appointed by the president from private industry, academia, and state and local government.
“I am honored that these talented individuals have decided to serve our country," President Obama said in a prepared statement. "They bring their years of experience and expertise to this Administration, and I look forward to working with them.”
In addition to Parker, a member of the private sector was appointed to the NIAC, and six other individuals were appointed to various administration advisory posts.
“I am deeply humbled to have been asked to serve our country in this capacity,” GM/CEO Keith Parker said. “I look forward to working with the other members of the National Infrastructure Advisory Council and the Secretary of Homeland Security.”
Parker was selected as the” 2015 Outstanding Public Transportation Manager” by the American Public Transportation Association.
