Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Tuesday, April 19th, 2016
It’s time to eat, drink and party with a purpose. The first annual Food That Rocks, a Celebration of Sandy Springs, is set for Saturday, May 14, 2016.
For one night only, more than 25 of the best local restaurants will be rocking the big tent in the heart of Sandy Springs. The all-inclusive event will provide food, wine, beer and cocktail tastes, local bands and benefit Sandy Springs-based charities Second Helpings, Ian’s Friends Foundation and the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
Honorary co-chairs of the event include Sandy Springs residents Myron Smith of Second Helpings Atlanta, Ian Yagoda of Ian's Friends Foundation, Lin Koperwas, ovarian cancer survivor and GOCA beneficiary and Gavin Perkins, aka Super Gav, a cancer survivor and Ian's Friends Foundation friend.
In partnership with the Sandy Springs Restaurant Council and Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce, Food That Rocks is presented by TasteATL and Taste of Atlanta, the award-winning bites and bevs festival that showcases the diversity of Atlanta restaurants.
“I am really proud to be part of the Sandy Springs community and wanted to help showcase all the great local restaurants,” says Dale Gordon DeSena, founder and CEO of Taste of Atlanta and Food That Rocks. “Food That Rocks will feature Sandy Springs’ amazing dining community and culinary talent, while giving back to the place I call home.”
“The Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber is proud to partner with Taste of Atlanta, and we’re confident they will shine a bright light on our city’s restaurants and businesses,” says Tom Mahaffey, executive director of the Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce.
Food That Rocks, set for 7:00 to 11:00pm, is for 21-year and older. Tickets are $55 per person in advance and $65 at the door, and may be purchased online at www.FoodThatRocks.org.
