U.S. Census Bureau Roundtable Discussion on Atlanta Commuting Data

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Friday, April 22nd, 2016

U.S. Census Bureau Director John H. Thompson will visit Atlanta to participate in a roundtable discussion with members of the Atlanta Regional Commission and local transportation officials on how Census Bureau data can be used to inform decisions on the city's commuting and transportation needs.

Commuting data can tell both Atlanta leaders and residents how people use modes of transportation such as car traffic, the MARTA bus and rail line, the Downtown Loop streetcar line that opened in 2014, and the multiuse BeltLine trail, which is under development.

Census Bureau commuting statistics come from the American Community Survey, the largest household survey in the U.S.
