As part of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia’s Awards and Recognition Program, Gas South was recognized as the 2016 Partner of the Year.

ACCG, Georgia’s county association, uses its Awards and Recognition Program to honor individuals, businesses and organizations that work to further the mission of county government, ACCG or both. Recipients of these awards are honored at the ACCG Annual Conference in April in Savannah/Chatham County.

“County government has a huge impact on our daily life,” said ACCG Executive Director Ross King. “Any time an individual or an entity in Georgia goes the extra mile to help counties better serve their citizens, we want to recognize and thank them.”

In 2011, Gas South became a preferred partner of the association and now, the company provides natural gas at a discounted rate to county employees and commissioners. Gas South is dedicated to other aspects of ACCG including assisting Georgia’s county association to achieve one of its goals of being recognized as a comprehensive resource for counties. Gas South also sponsors ACCG’s annual conference and participates in the County Buyers Mart each year.

“They were selected because they’ve had a long-standing relationship with the association that extends beyond our membership,” King added. “We are extremely proud that we have a public-private partnership with a corporate giant like Gas South.”

ACCG’s Chief Operating Officer Randy Hartmann pointed out that businesses and organizations often step forward to help their communities and their local governments.

“Government doesn’t do it alone,” Hartmann said. “The partnership is about more than just providing natural gas.”

“An important part of the Gas South Way is creating win-win relationships and challenging the status quo, and our decade-long partnership with the ACCG exemplifies these principles,” said Kevin Greiner, Gas South president and CEO. “The ACCG is widely recognized as among the most innovative and dynamic county associations in the country, and it has proven that public-private partnerships like ours can be extremely effective in creating value for county governments and their hard-working employees.”
