Local Foundation Helps Obese Children Lose Weight

The Effort Foundation is hoping to make obese children’s load a little lighter this summer. The foundation has announced it will conduct summer camps at several locations in metro Atlanta this summer to help obese children lose weight and develop healthier eating habits. David W. Dorbin, the foundation’s Executive Director, said “Childhood obesity is still a major health problem in Georgia and over 25% of metro Atlanta children are obese or at risk of becoming obese.” The Effort Foundation’s Active Weight Reduction Camp will include non-competitive group sports, food and diet counseling, meal planning, BMI testing and personal fitness training. Those interested in participating must attend one of the camp’s scheduled pre-screening events. The Gwinnett pre-screening will be held June 18, 2016 from 2:30pm – 4:30pm at Five Forks Public Library, located at 2780 Five Forks Trickum Rd SW, Lawrenceville GA 30044. The Dekalb/Fulton pre-screening will be held June 25, 2016 from 2:30pm - 4:30pm at Northlake Barbara Loar Library, located at 3772 La Vista Rd, Tucker GA 30084.
