Hartsfield-Jackson Processes Over 500,00 on Successful Holiday Weekend, Welcomes New Airline

City of Atlanta leaders and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials, just days after working with Transportation Security Administration officers to screen nearly a half-million travelers through ATL, will comment Wednesday on the speed and efficiency of passenger security processing over the Memorial Day weekend. Officials meeting with the media will also discuss how ATL plans on maintaining low wait times for the entire summer travel season.
“The Memorial Day weekend was as busy as expected,” interim Airport General Manger Roosevelt Council, Jr. said today. “We worked with our TSA colleagues and our airline partners to ensure customers received a pleasant, efficient travel experience.”
Hartsfield-Jackson Welcomes New Airline to ATL
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will host the inaugural flight of Qatar Airways to ATL Wednesday afternoon, June 1. The flight begins new, non-stop, daily service between ATL and Hamad International Airport in Doha. Qatar Airways will mark the occasion by operating the inaugural flight with one of the airline’s super jumbo Airbus A380 aircraft. The Boeing 777-200LR will be utilized for regular service on the route.
“We look forward to welcoming our newest airline partner this week,” interim Airport General Manger Roosevelt Council, Jr. said today. “Expanding opportunities for our customers and growing our international reach is one of our top goals. Qatar allows us to accomplish just that.”
Members of the media are invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony and tour of the Airbus A380, shortly after its arrival Wednesday afternoon.
