Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was honored over the weekend when it was named the world’s most efficient airport for the 13th straight year.

In its annual benchmarking study of commercial airports in Europe, Asia, Oceania and North America, the Air Transport Research Society, the world’s leading academic society in the air transportation field, has again given its Global Efficiency Excellence Award to ATL.

“Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport made history last year as the first airport ever to serve 100 million passengers in a single year. Maintaining efficiency and operational excellence while hosting so many passengers speaks volumes about our employees and partners,” said interim Airport General Manager Roosevelt Council Jr.  “We are honored to receive this award for the 13th consecutive year.”

“The ATRS goes to great efforts to assess the efficiency of airports around the world. Our hope is that the airport authorities will review these results in order to further improve their efficiency and reduce the costs to passenger and airline users,” says Martin Dresner, CEO and president of ATRS.
