Two urgent care centers in Gwinnett County, jointly operated by Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) and ChoiceOne Urgent Care, have become the first in Georgia to achieve Accreditation by the Urgent Care Association of America, the highest level of distinction for its growing chain of urgent care centers.
“This achievement demonstrates the high level of care the residents of Gwinnett County expect from Gwinnett Medical Center,” said Phil Wolfe, president and CEO of GMC. “We are extremely proud of our ChoiceOne Urgent Care centers and look forward to opening additional facilities in the future.”
The UCAOA Accreditation means a facility demonstrates it has met nationally standardized criteria to provide high-level care and achieved excellence in the following areas:
-Governance
-Human Resources
-Patient Care Processes
-Physical Environment
- Quality Improvement
- Health Record Management
- Patient Privacy/Rights/Responsibilities
- Scope of Care
“Achieving UCAOA Accreditation is an acknowledgment of the quality of care provided to each patient at every ChoiceOne Center,” noted Dr. Scott Burger, chief medical officer for ChoiceOne Urgent Care. “We are proud to be the first urgent care company in Georgia to achieve this recognition.”
ChoiceOne Urgent Care centers are located at 5965 Cumming Highway in Sugar Hill and 2690 Hamilton Road in Buford and offer patients, including pediatrics, services such as treatments for non-emergent illnesses and injuries (i.e. colds, flu, broken bones, headaches, infections and sprains), sports physicals, occupational health services (pre-employment physicals, drug testing, workers’ compensation and vaccinations), and on-site X-ray, laboratory and limited prescription medications.
Both centers are open seven days per week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., including most holidays.
