Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Monday, August 8th, 2016
State Farm today announced it will continue to support Habitat for Humanity in the organization’s work to help families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable housing. The funding will support youth working with Habitat in communities across the country.
“We are grateful to State Farm for their generosity and commitment to engaging youth in our work,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “Putting the need for shelter on the hearts and minds of young people is very important to Habitat’s mission as we respond to the growing need for affordable housing everywhere.”
State Farm’s gift will help fund new home construction, neighborhood revitalization efforts and disaster recovery projects led by various youth groups including Habitat chapters on high school and college campuses.
“State Farm is here to help life go right and strengthen communities,” said Kellie Clapper, assistant vice president of philanthropy at State Farm. “What better way to do that than to not only help communities build homes with people in need, but to engage youth so they too can learn that when good neighbors work together, we can help each other realize our dreams.”
State Farm has supported Habitat since 1994 and has served as the primary national corporate sponsor of Habitat’s youth initiatives since 2007.
Most recently, along with providing funding to engage youth across the country in Habitat’s work, State Farm fully sponsored and built a home in Dallas, marking the first major volunteer effort by its employees in the region. Joined by high school area students, employees from the newly opened regional hub helped build the home over 10 weeks.
