The City of Roswell, Georgia has been honored by The National Association of Government Web Professionals with a Pinnacle Award for its website, developed by Vision, the company announced.
Judged by a group of public and private sector IT professionals, Pinnacle Awards are presented based on the following criteria: team size, content, organization, design, performance and flexibility, accessibility and interactivity. The Roswell site won first place among cities and counties with populations of 50,001 to 150,000.
"We're really excited about our new website and winning this award is like icing on the cake," said Julie Brechbill, community relations manager for the City of Roswell. "Aesthetically, we wanted our site to look beautiful while functionally, the navigation had to make it easy for people to find what they're looking for. Vision worked with us every step of the way on both elements to produce the site we have today. Our residents love it."
One of the most valued features of the new site, according to Brechbill, is the search function. The search bar is strategically placed in the center of the homepage and asks visitors "How can we help you today?"
"It was important for us to have a prominent search feature because a government website houses a great deal of information," Brechbill added. "We want people to find what they're looking for quickly, regardless of whether or not they know what department it is in."
Roswell Web Developer Ben Frye, who worked closely with Vision on the new site, agreed that the large search bar was one of the keys to success, along with the drop down navigation menus and friendly icons, which provide multiple options for residents to quickly and easily find what they want. He also pointed out that the bold colors and beautiful photos convey the uniqueness of the city.
