America's # 1 Radio Golf Show Hits Atlanta Airwaves

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Tuesday, November 15th, 2016

Veteran radio personality John Patrick announced recently that Atlanta’s own Talk Radio 640 WGST-AM, owned by iHeartMEDIA, is airing his long-running weekly one-hour show at 2:00 every Saturday. "We have built some amazing and rewarding relationships with a myriad of wonderful folks throughout the professions of golf and radio broadcasting," explains the award-winning host of The Augusta Golf Show with John Patrick, named "Best Radio Golf Show in America" in 2012, 2014, and 2015 by ING (The International Network of Golf). "Many people from all around the Atlanta area---as well as several other markets--- have asked me why I wasn't on the air in their city, so we decided to fix that, starting with a 50,000-watt news-talk-sports powerhouse in the heart of the Southeast." “Talk Radio 640 WGST-AM in Atlanta is excited to welcome The Augusta Golf Show with John Patrick to the weekend line-up every Saturday at 2:00 P.M.,” said Program Director Dan Hunt. “This show taps into golf’s rich history and provides listeners with a direct connection to the game they love each week.”

More about the Show in Atlanta

The show on WGST-AM 640 follows the nationally-syndicated and very popular “Cigar Dave” program and is, in turn, followed by “GunTalk” with Tom Gresham.

Opportunities for Show Sponsors

Mr. Patrick has partnered with Augusta-based ClarionSouth Communications to help him grow his 11-station network into a 100-station network by July 1st, 2018. The one-hour program regularly features in-depth interviews with legendary players, such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Annika Sorenstam and more; some of today's best, including Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Jim Furyk, Paula Creamer, and others; plus, some of John's fellow broadcasters who are the greatest to ever cover the game: Jack Whitaker, Jim Nantz, Johnny Miller, Ken Venturi, and more.

The program's format allows national sponsors to purchase up to four minutes of broadcast time per hour-long show (either four :60 commercials or eight :30 commercials, or any combination thereof) as part of a value-added sponsorship package that includes a banner ad on the show's Web site plus social media endorsements and sponsored messages. "The sponsors who climb on board early will enjoy a multitude of bonuses we may not be able to provide at no charge further along in our expansion," says Bert Dean, CEO of ClarionSouth Communications, the firm handling the program's syndication and sponsorship sales. "With his encyclo-pedic knowledge of golf and love of the game, John Patrick bleeds fairway green and is the consummate radio broadcasting professional. That's an unbeatable combination that promises to pack a powerful, positive marketing punch for participating sponsors and stations."

Opportunities for Radio Stations

Golfers, as a group nationwide, are some of the best-educated, active, affluent consumers in the nation. And they tend to be amazingly consistent in playing, listening to, and watching the game they love. Men and women golfers across North America invest billions upon billions of dollars per year in golf equipment, golf

vacations, greens and cart fees, club memberships, golf lessons, and tournament tickets. These same golf enthusiasts also purchase automobiles, homes, food, beverages, healthcare insurance, life insurance---just like everyone else.  News/Talk/Sports radio stations with broadcast signals that cover their market area and have a non-profitable hour of weekend programming time available can secure the exclusive rights to broadcast The Augusta Golf Show with John Patrick on a first-come/first-served basis. The program's format allows local stations to sell up to eleven minutes of commercial time in their respective markets. (Some restrictions may apply.)  John will also produce a daily "Augusta Golf Show" feature with a :30 slot available for network sponsors and a :30 slot available for local advertisers. The show currently airs on the following ten Southeastern stations:
