Georgia Piedmont Technical College’s Marketing and Communications Team Wins Big at Regional PR Conference

Georgia Piedmont Technical College has won four National Council of Marketing and Public Relations District Two Medallion Awards. District Two received 350 entries in 54 categories from its member colleges who are in 11 southeastern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and Bermuda.
“Communication excellence is a high priority for our institution, as outlined in our strategic plan,” said Dr. Jabari Simama, President, Georgia Piedmont Technical College. “Not only do I thank the Marketing and Communications team for its creative vision, but I also recognize faculty and staff throughout the college for establishing relationships with our marketing team; their input was vital in shaping our current branding, marketing and communications strategies,” Dr. Simama said. “These partnerships generate the most effective initiatives. I applaud the collaborative efforts that produced such innovative and inspiring work,” Dr. Simama concluded.
The NCMPR District Two Medallion Awards ceremony is an annual celebration honoring communications initiatives and collateral pieces produced by community and technical college communications professionals. Judging is highly competitive. Entries are evaluated by an independent panel of experienced public relations professionals. The honors are awarded based on several factors, including overall excellence of the entry and its quality compared to other entries in the category, effectiveness and demonstrated outcomes.
“Winning these awards is a testament to the hard work being put forth by our Marketing and Communications team, particularly because the entries are judged by industry peers,” said Keith Sagers, Georgia Piedmont’s Chief Operating Officer. “The staff brought home Medallion Awards from diverse categories, proving that our team’s creative strengths span the breadth of marketing and communications disciplines. More importantly, it serves as an indication that our college continues to excel while pushing the boundaries and moving from good to great,” Sagers added.
Georgia Piedmont’s Medallion Awards are as follows:
GOLD: GPTC-Connect, the faculty & staff information portal, received First Place in the Microsites category.
SILVER: Swoops received the Silver Medallion award in the College Branding Initiative category.
BRONZE: The college’s promotional activities for the Open Houses held during the summer of 2016 received a Bronze Medallion in the Successful Recruitment Marketing category.
BRONZE: “Go Green,” an event to highlight the college’s new electric vehicle charging stations and its sustainability efforts, was awarded a Bronze Medallion in the Media Success Story Category.
