The Cordish Companies is excited to announce that award-winning Chef Todd English will bring his Todd English Tavern to Live! at the Battery Atlanta. Live! at the Battery Atlanta, the premier dining and entertainment district in The Battery Atlanta at SunTrust Park, is being developed by Cordish, one of the largest and most successful operators of dining, entertainment and hospitality districts and concepts in the world. Welcoming more than 50 million visitors a year, Cordish’s Live! districts are among the highest profile sports, entertainment, gaming and hotel destinations in the country.

Designed by Jeffrey Beers International, the dynamic, two-story collection of bars, restaurants and gaming areas at Live! at the Battery Atlanta will have ample outdoor space for socializing before or after a game.

The new restaurant is a long-awaited return to English’s hometown for the chef who was raised in Atlanta. English has developed a diverse selection of successful restaurants across the globe. From Las Vegas to Mexico City and New York to Abu Dhabi, the chef was inspired by his Italian heritage for his restaurants Olives, Figs and Tuscany. Others concepts include Bonfire steakhouse in New York, Todd English P.U.B. in Las Vegas and the European-inspired Todd English Food Hall in the iconic Plaza Hotel in New York.

English was named a National Rising Star Chef by the James Beard Foundation when he came on the food scene in the early 1990s, and since then he’s won accolades from top publications like Bon Appetit and People Magazine and appeared on TV shows like Good Morning America and The Today Show. He also established himself as a successful television producer and host, winning two James Beard Awards as well as an Emmy nomination for his international travel and cooking series, Food Trip with Todd English.

“I was raised in Atlanta from the time I was six until 16,” said Chef Todd English who attended The Galloway School, “and I’ve always wanted to open a restaurant here. I’ve been looking for the right place in my hometown for a long time. The destination the Braves are building at SunTrust Park with the The Battery, and the excitement The Cordish Companies are bringing with Live!, has the right energy for what I’m trying to accomplish, which is a true dining experience. I think Atlantans will love this new tavern and feel right at home. We are going to bring them something they’ve never experienced before.”

Todd Parmelee, Chief Operating Officer of Live! at the Battery Atlanta, added, “Todd English Tavern will set the tone for upscale dining at Live! He will lead a team of chefs and mixologists who will bring signature drinks and dishes to Atlanta. With Todd returning to his roots as a native Atlantan, he has a level of understanding and nuance about southern food ways that locals will recognize.”

One of three concepts in Live! at the Battery Atlanta, Todd English Tavern will open in April, along with the two-level Sports & Social, featuring a 40-foot diagonal high-definition LED screen as a backdrop for social games and activities throughout the venue.

Todd English Tavern will be defined by an open kitchen, anchored with a wood-fired grill with chains that will raise and lower meats into the fire. A marble slab chef’s table will overlook the open kitchen with a dramatic zinc-topped bar for drinks and bar dining.

In Sports & Social and throughout the venue, classic social bar games like ping pong, air hockey, shufflepuck, foosball and others will be part of the venue. A giant wall of television screens ensure that guests will never miss a stunning play or dugout drama.

Expansive garage-style doors will open onto a spacious patio and a grand stair case will invite visitors up to the second floor. A modern interpretation of a grand chandelier, composed of a collection of bare bulb pendants, will be suspended above the stairs.

In May, PBR Atlanta, a bar branded by the Professional Bull Riders, will open its doors for customers to experience a unique venue, including the world’s meanest mechanical bull, a large dance floor and stage, casual lounge area, private outdoor balconies with fire pits, and multiple bars.  Born from the toughest sport on dirt, PBR Atlanta will be a powerhouse concept that will bring an authentic country experience to Live! at The Battery Atlanta.

Live! at The Battery Atlanta is currently under construction as part of the SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta. After opening, Live! will be a 365-day-a-year environment, providing a lively gathering space for locals and visitors alike.
