Lovett Welcomes Katie McDowell

Katie McDowell has joined Lovett and Breakthrough Atlanta as Director of Development for Strategic Partnerships. In this newly designed role, Katie will be supporting Breakthrough Atlanta, as well as a handful of development initiatives for Lovett's strategic partnership programs, such as Lab Atlanta and Siempre Verde.
 
Since 2014, Katie served as the founding Executive Director of the Office of Partnerships and Development for Atlanta Public Schools. In this role, Katie created the office and served as the key liaison between the district and partners including non-profits, corporations, foundations, community agencies, and more. Under her leadership, the district launched the Achieve Atlanta scholarship program, acquired 260 new partnerships, and funded a comprehensive social-emotional learning program in 75 traditional schools. Prior to joining APS, Katie served for ten years as the co-founder and Executive Director of the Atlanta Families’ Awards for Excellence in Education a non-profit focused on teacher and school-leader quality in metro Atlanta. Previously, Katie also worked at McKinsey & Company.
 
Katie holds a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An Atlanta native, she attended the Westminster Schools before graduating from The Lawrenceville School. Katie is the proud mom of Lovett students: Laney, Grade 6, and William, Grade 3.
