Clayton State University has released its final total for its 24-hour fundraising event, Give 4 Dreams. The school raised $143,641 in donations, exceeding its goal during the second annual fund drive that lasted from March 1 to March 2.

Thirteen projects including student travel, academic research, national competitions and scholarships earned generous support from 393 donors.

“The important thing is we build on a momentum we have created,” said Dr. Tim Hynes, president of Clayton State University. “Our students continue to be worthy and because they are worthy, the needs that can be fulfilled will demonstrate and allow those students to fulfill that worth to become the kind of influence of change and of transformation so important in Georgia and in the South Metro Atlanta area.”

A goal of $120,000 was initially set for the event. By 3:30 pm of March 1, Clayton State surpassed that amount. Hynes interrupted the Give 4 Dreams live broadcast to issue a new goal of $130,000.

Corporate partners including Sutherlands Foodservice and Bojangles in Morrow, GA, along with the Clayton State University Foundation and the Clayton State University President’s Cabinet provided an additional $5,500 in incentives that projects could win.

“Each bit contributes to the students, faculty and staff who can make dreams come true,” Hynes said.
