Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Thursday, March 2nd, 2017
Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia's largest credit union with more than $5 billion in assets, announces a call for entries in its 12th annual scholarship program. Five applicants will be awarded a total of $20,000 in scholarship money based on academic achievement, community involvement and submission of an essay on a subject selected by the Credit Union.
"As the cost of higher education continues to rise, our scholarship program provides valuable support to hardworking students," said Delta Community CEO Hank Halter. "We hope those who benefit will achieve their personal educational goals and, ultimately, will contribute to their own communities' social and economic health and stability."
The 2017 Delta Community Scholarship Program will award three $5,000 and two $2,500 scholarships to eligible students seeking their first undergraduate degree. It provides funds to cover tuition, books, housing and other expenses. Delta Community's focus on young adults inspired this year's essay topic:
"In 2017, Delta Community Credit Union surpassed its 350,000 member milestone, solidifying its place as a leader among the nation's top credit unions. Describe how you have demonstrated leadership in the past and how this scholarship will help you achieve your personal milestones."
All scholarship applications must be received by March 31 and winners will be notified and announced on or before May 5. Applicants must be Delta Community members enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the United States during the fall semester of the 2017-2018 academic year.
